Numbers station

A shortwave radio station that broadcasts lists of numbers, codes, words etc. that seem to have no meaning to an observer that stumbles across them. Numbers stations are widespread and can be easily found, but there are very few organisations that admit to running them. Popular theories state that governments run them as communication networks between spies, as they first appeared shortly after World War II.
