Phreatophytes
Natural environment; Water
Plants that send their roots into or below the capillary zone to use ground water.
Supercritical flow
Natural environment; Water
Flow characterised by high velocity and a Froude number greater than 1. When the Froude number is greater than 1, inertial forces are greater than gravitational forces.
Aqueduct
Natural environment; Water
A pipe, conduit, or channel designed to transport water from a remote source, usually by gravity.
Draught
Natural environment; Water
1. The act of drawing or removing water from a tank or reservoir. 2. The water which is drawn or removed.
Inhibitor
Natural environment; Water
Chemical that interferes with a chemical reaction, such as precipitation.
Physical and chemical treatment
Natural environment; Water
Processes generally used in wastewater treatment facilities. Physical processes are for instance filtration. Chemical treatment can be coagulation, chlorination, or ozon treatment.
Supercritical water
Natural environment; Water
A type of thermal treatment using moderate temperatures and high pressures to enhance the ability of water to break down large organic molecules into smaller, less toxic ones. Oxygen injected during ...
