Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi (born 19 June 1945) is a Burmese opposition politician and the General Secretary of the National League for Democracy. She is well known for being one of the world's most prominent political prisoners, as from 1989 to 2010 she had spent almost 15 years under house arrest after winning the 1990 general election in Burma. In November 2010 she was released from house arrest and participated in the 2012 by-elections.
