Belt Alternator Startor. A form of hybrid vehicle system introduced by GM, and used in the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid and Saturn Aura Green Line. The "start stop" system turn off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop, and restarts it again when the brake pedal is released, enabling efficiency in urban settings.
