Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

The "Flying Spaghetti Monster" concept first appeared in 2005 in an open letter written by Bobby Henderson, protesting against Kansas State Board of Education for permitting the teaching of intelligent design in science classes. They are also called Pastafarians.

The author parodied the idea of intelligent design by professing faith in a supernatural creator that looks like spaghetti and meatballs and which created the universe "after drinking heavily" (and that's why the World is flawed). The Pastafarian's Heaven has a beer volcano and a stripper factory while Hell is similar, but the beer is stale and the strippers have sexually transmitted diseases.

They also consider pirates as "absolute divine beings" and the original Pastafarians, and they think that the bad concept that people have about them is because of the Christian and Hare Krishna theologians. Pirates were supposed to be "peace-loving explorers and spreaders of good will" who gave sweets to children (modern pirates are no similar to "the fun-loving buccaneers from history"). Actually the 19th of September, Pastafarians celebrate the International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

About the holidays, Pastafarians celebrate every Friday as a holy day and they also celebrate a imprecisely defined holiday ncalled "Holiday" which does not take place on a specific date because Pastafarians "reject dogma and formalism".
