Rebecca Black
Rebecca Black is an American teenager who received extensive media coverage for her 2011 single "Friday". Black's mother reportedly paid $4000 to have Rebecca sing, record and produce a music video through record label, ARK Music Factory.
Released on March 14, 2011, the music video went viral - in two months, it received over 167 million views on YouTube, with many viewers negatively commenting about Black's singing abilities, the lyrics, and the overall content of the music video. It was removed from YouTube on June 16, 2011, due to copyright issues.
In August 2011, it was reported that Black dropped out of school and is now being home-schooled due to bullying regarding the music video phenomenon.
