Written during the long reign of Remesses II (reigned 1279 BC to 1213 BC), the Turin King List is a compilation of names of persons and institutions, originally created to be a tax roll. It also contains a list of gods, demi-gods, spirits, mythical and human kings who ruled Egypt from the beginning of time presumably until the time when the document was compiled. The kings are grouped according to the city where they took up residence, not according to dynasties when they reigned.
