Consisting of 29 islands, The Bahamas is a Commonwealth nation located in the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the United States and north of Cuba. The islands have a total population of around 330,000, most of whom are predominantly of African origin. The country has the third-highest GDP per capita in the Americas after the United States and Canada, and its capital is the city of Nassau, which is also the commercial centre of the country.
