Homeland (October 2 2011 - Present) is an American political drama/thriller series aired on cable channel Showtime, and produced by Fox 21.It is based on the Israeli series Hatufim (Prisoners of War) and was developed for American audiences by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. It stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison; a C.I.A. operative, and Damian Lewis as a U.S.Marine; Sgt. Nicholas Brody. After 8 years held captive in Afghanistan as a prisoner of war, back home Brody is lauded as a war hero. But Mathison has reason to believe he has been turned and now poses a risk to the United States. The series centres on her unauthorised investigation into Brody as Brody himself come sto term with a difficutl family situation as well as complex emotional issues of his own. The series has won several awards including the 2012 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama. Both Claire Danes and Damian have also received a Primetime Emmy Award for their critically acclaimed performances as Lead Actress and Lead Actor respectively.
