Maundy Thursday

The Christian feast that falls on the Thursday before Easter. The term is a corruption of the Latin phrase Novum Mandatum (the New Commandment) given by Christ at the last supper to his disciples to love one another. In recognition of this commandment, he washed their feet as a demonstration of service to others, no matter how humiliating or mundane.

Maundy Thursday is the 5th day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
