Mistaken email sent by the New York Times on 28 December 2011, offering users a discount if they would reconsider cancelling their subscriptions. Despite being intended for the few hundred people who had recently cancelled their subscriptions, the email was sent to 8.6 million people, including those paying for a full subscription.
