Texas, nicknamed 'The State of the star solo', is the second American State provided by the area by population and it the largest State in the contiguous States of the United States. Texas has a border with the Mexico South, New Mexico to the West, Oklahoma to the North, Arkansas Northeast and eastern Louisiana. Austin is the capital of the State; other major cities are Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso, Arlington, Corpus Christi, Plano and Garland. He entered the Union on December 29, 1845 as the 28th State.
