Barometer elevation

The vertical distance between mean sea level of the ivory point (zero point) of a station's mercury barometer. The term is denoted by the symbol Hz in international usage. The value of atmospheric pressure with respect to this elevation is termed actual pressure. The requirement that the elevation be referred to mean sea level may be replace by the requirement that it be referred to the geoid.
