Fusee
A pyrotechnic signalling device carried by train crews and track workers. When ignited it burns with a red light for a short period of time. A fusee may be dropped from the rear of a train to warn following trains of danger and it is used in many other ways, including emergency use by track workers to indicate to an approaching train a dangerous condition of track or structure. It is used either in daylight or darkness.
