Liquid crystal display (LCD)

A thin, flat screen technology used not only in digital photo frames, but in televisions, computer monitors and many other devices. LCD relies on the behaviour of liquid crystal molecules contained between two transparent – usually glass – plates. When a voltage is applied, or removed, the liquid crystals align themselves in one direction, or the other, to permit, or deny, the passage of light.
