White dwarf

A white dwarf is the final stage during the life of relative small mass stars like the Sun, after they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. Most of the outer material is expelled, remaining only the hot core of the star. White dwarfs consist of helium nuclei and a degenerate gas of electrons, with a temperature exceeding 100,000 Kelvin.
