It stands for Public Data Network. (1) A communications common carrier network that provides data communications services over switched or nonswitched lines.(2) A network operated by a government or private organization to provide computer communications to the public, usually for a fee. With a PDN, a small organization can create a WAN without incurring the equipment costs of long-distance circuits.
