El Nobel de Física de 2011 ha reconocido el trabajo de tres físicos: Saul Perlmutter (EE UU), Brian P. Schmidt (Australia) y Adam G. Riess (EE UU), que descubrieron que el Universo se expande a un ritmo cada vez más acelerado observando supernovas lejanas.
