An investigation of the physical and biological conditions of the Atlantic and Indian oceans during 1898 and 1899 by a research team aboard the "Valdivia." This expedition penetrated into the Antarctic as far as the ice would permit. The results were issued as a series of memoirs under the editorship of Chun, the leader of the expedition.
