Financial engineering
Also: structured finance. A field of corporate finance, financial engineering refers to the application of various mathematical, statistical and computational techniques to solve practical problems in finance. Such problems include the valuation of derivatives instruments such as options, futures and swaps, the trading of securities, risk management and regulation of financial markets. In a broader sense the term generally means qualified financial consulting services (e.g. solving capital and asset management problems, selecting financing strategies and instruments, drawing up financial and cash plans, assessing and evaluating investment projects).
