Flop shot

When chipping or pitching in golf, this shot will result in more loft and less roll after the ball hits the green. With exaggerated loft, this shot is meant to traverse an intervening hazard, such as a sand trap or even a small pond near the green. Inexperienced golfers will routinely "skull" (skulled shot) this shot, sending the ball quickly off at a low trajectory towards the green, often with an undesirable result.
