Simulated annealing
An energy minimization technique to refine a model structure, e.g. an X-ray crystallographic or nuclear magnetic resonance model, by simulation of heating it to a high temperature to break all covalent and non-covalent bonds and overcome local energy minima, recalculation of the positions of each atom, then slowly cooling it to allow bonds to re-form between neighbouring atoms.
