triple play

A triple play is a rare event in a baseball game. It is a play by the defense in which three offensive players are put out on the same play.
unearned run

A run that scores because of a fielding error. Because this is an unearned run the run does not count when the pitcher's earned run average is calculated.
utility infielder

A player who can play any of the positions in the infield. He is usually put in the game because one of the other players has been hurt or taken out of the game for some reason.
