Maximum operating speed (VMO)
Aviation; Airplane flying
VMO is the maximum normal operating speed in which the pilot has full control authority of the aircraft. Maximum operating speed is expressed in knots.
Never-exceed speed (VNE)
Aviation; Airplane flying
Operating above this speed is prohibited since it may result in damage or structural failure. The red line on the airspeed indicator.
Safe, intentional one-engine inoperative speed (VSSE)
Aviation; Airplane flying
The minimum speed to intentionally render the critical engine inoperative.
Maximum structural cruising speed (VNO)
Aviation; Airplane flying
The upper limit of the green arc. Do not exceed this speed except in smooth air.
Minimum dynamic hydroplaning speed (VP)
Aviation; Airplane flying
The minimum speed required to start dynamic hydroplaning.
Rotation speed (VR)
Aviation; Airplane flying
The speed that the pilot begins rotating the aircraft prior to lift-off.
Fuel injection
Aviation; Airplane flying
A fuel metering system used on some aircraft reciprocating engines in which a constant flow of fuel is fed to injection nozzles in the heads of all cylinders just outside of the intake valve. It ...
