The arrangement of sepals and petals or their lobes in an unexpanded flower bud. Cf. Vernation.

Phyllotaxy

The arrangement of leaves on a stem (when spiral, often expressed quantitatively as the fraction of the circumference of the stem that separates two successive leaves).

The angle between a leaf or bract and the axis bearing it. Adj. Axillary.

Imbibition

The absorption of water, seeds with high protein contents have a very high imbibing capacity, and will swell more from imbibing than seeds with more starch or cellulose.
