Contributors in Neuroscience

Neuroscience

Pheromones

Biology; Neuroscience

Species-specific odorants that play important roles in behaviour in some animals, including many mammals.

Choroid plexus

Biology; Neuroscience

Specialised epithelium in the ventricular system that produces cerebrospinal fluid.

Lamellipodia

Biology; Neuroscience

The leading edge of a motile cell or growth cone, which is rich in actin filaments.

Molecular layer

Biology; Neuroscience

The layer of the cerebellar cortex containing the apical dendrites of Purkinje cells, parallel fibres from granule cells, a few local circuit neurons, and the synapses between these elements.

Granule cell layer

Biology; Neuroscience

The layer of the cerebellar cortex where granule cell bodies are found. Also used to refer to cell-rich layers in neocortex and hippocampus.

Purkinje cell

Biology; Neuroscience

The large principal projection neuron of the cerebellar cortex that has as its defining characteristic an elaborate apical dendrite.

Lateral columns

Biology; Neuroscience

The lateral regions of spinal cord white matter that convey motor information from the brain to the spinal cord.
