Plastic injection molding
Plastic injection molding is the primary process for manufacturing plastic parts used in consumer goods such as computer keyboards, monitors, bottle caps, cups and solid plastic articles. Plastic is known to be a very versatile and economical material that is used in many applications. Injection molding involves taking plastic in the form of pellets or granules and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold where it is allowed to "cool" into the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the part is ejected, at which time the cycle is repeated.

Plastic injection molding
Odorants & deodorants
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Odorants are used to add odour to materials, usually for safety reasons.
Multiple cavity mould
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Produces more that one identical part with each cycle.
Opaque
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Not able to transmit light. A object is opaque if blocks light from going through it.
Homopolymer
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
Plastic that results from the polymerization of a single monomer.
Break elongation
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
The increase in distance between two gauge marks at the break point divided by the original distance between the marks. A zero value in the field indicates that it measured less than one.
Multi-shot moulding
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
The injection of two-or-three materials, in sequence, into a single mould during a single moulding cycle. The injection moulding machine is equipped with two-or-three plasticators. (See also ...
Yield elongation
Manufacturing; Plastic injection molding
The increase in distance between two gauge marks at a yield point divided by the original distance between the marks. A zero value indicates that it measured less than one.
