A railroad is a means of wheeled transportation for moving people and goods. Railroads are tracks on which trains can tow cars behind an engine.

Actual lead

The length between the actual point of switch and the half-inch point of frog, measured on the line of the straight track.
Curved lead

The degree of curvature in a turnout between the heel of the switch and the toe of the frog, measured on the centerline of the turnout track.
Switch lamp lens

A lens set in a switch lamp. A wide-angle lens, which spreads a light of low intensity over a wide area, is most commonly used with yard switches.
Lever frame

A frame holding levers for operating turnouts and signals. Can be found both in signal boxes and, where only a small number of levers are required, outside.
