That science dealing with soils as a natural resource on the surface of the earth including soil formation, classification and mapping; physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils per se; and these properties in relation to the use and management of soils.

Thc quantity of harvestable biomass per unit total biomass produced. If used in relation to nutrients it would be the quantity of biomass produced per unit input of plant nutrient.
Albedo

The ratio of the amount of solar radiation reflected by a body to the amount incident upon it, often expressed as a percentage, as, the albedo of the earth is 34%.
