Typography is the technique of arranging type in order to make language visible. This process includes the selection of font style, size, line length and spacing.

Font with high contrast letters and heavy, untapered stems and light serifs. Originally established by Firmin Didot and Giambattista Bodoni during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

The style of letters that usually slope to the right. Used for emphasis within text.

To make a line of type a certain length by spacing out the words and numbers.

Refers to the amount of added vertical spacing between lines of text.

Refers to widows or orphans a in text copy, or any break that causes awkward reading.

Bar

The horizontal or vertical line drawn through a grapheme (unit of writing, such as a letter). Sometimes added to distinguish one grapheme from another.
