Zamišljeno je Lakanov termin za svet u kojem se započinje stvaranje sebe kao subjekta. Prvobitno, dete nema centar svog identiteta i nema jasnih granica između sebe i spoljnog sveta. Lakan smatra da u "fazi ogledala" (sa šest do osamnaest meseci, pre usvajanja govora) gledanje sebe u ogledalu stvara snažno definisanu iluziju koherentnog i samostalnog ličnog identiteta.
