The Second Republic was the political system of France from February 24, 1848, the provisional date of the proclamation of the Republic in Paris, to the coronation of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte December 2, 1852.

It was followed by the monarchy set up by Napoleon Bonaparte called the Second Empire.
