9/11 Terrorist Attack

On September 11, 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by Muslim extremists and crashed into two locations. Two were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade centre in New York City; one was flown into the Pentagon Building in Washington DC, and in the fourth plane, civilians out-powered the terrorists and the plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly three thousand people were reported dead in the attacks. Al-Qaeda, a terrorist group centred in the Middle East, and its deceased leader Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the attack.
