Anderson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 58,458. Anderson county was organised in 1846, and is named in honour of Kenneth L. Anderson who had been Vice President of the Republic of Texas. There were 15,678 households out of which 34.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.50% were married couples living together, 13.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.70% were non-families. 24.80% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.80% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.07.
