Anthony Shadid

Anthony Shadid (1968) was a foreign correspondent (born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma of Lebanese descent) for The New York Times based in Baghdad and Beirut. He won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting twice, in 2004 and 2010. He was married to Nada Bakri, also a reporter for The New York Times. Shadid died on February 16, 2012, reportedly from an asthma attack, while reporting from Syria. His body was carried to Turkey by Tyler Hicks, a photographer for The New York Times.
