The Asahi Shimbun is a national newspaper of Japan and the second most circulated out of the five most popular Japanese national newspapers. The newspaper has two editions, with a circulation of nearly 8 million for the morning edition and just over 3 million for the evening edition. The newspaper began publication in 1879 and its headquarters are in Osaka, Japan.
