BBC World Service
The BBC World Service is the world's largest international broadcaster, broadcasting in 27 languages to many parts of the world. Its English language service broadcasts 24 hours a day and its average weekly audience is 188 million people. Originally founded in 1932 as the BBC Empire Service, the station was instrumental in broadcasting propaganda to Germany during World War II and today devotes significant resources to helping people learn English.
