Bertelsmann AG is a multinational media corporation founded in 1835 and based in Gütersloh, Germany. The company has around 2000 subdivisions and subsidiaries in 63 countries around the world. Its four main divisions are the RTL Group: Europe's biggest broadcaster of radio and television, Gruner + Jahr, the biggest magazine publisher in Europe, Random House, the world's largest book publisher and Arvato, an international media and communications service provider. The Mohn family owns 22.6% of Bertelsmann with the remaining 77.4% being owned by the Bertelsmann Foundation set up by the Mohn family in 1977.
