Located on the Balkan Peninsula in Southern Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina is an independent state under international administration that is recovering from a three-year war (1992-1995) that displaced nearly two million people. The country's 3.8 million (2010) people are divided amongst Bosnian Muslims, Serbians and Croatians, and the capital is Sarajevo, a city famous for its religious diversity.
