Buckingham Palace, in London, United Kingdom, is the official residence and office of the British monarch. It is the setting for state occasions, royal hospitality and is a focus for the British people in times of national rejoicing and crisis.

The first structure on the site was in the 17th century, but the current building is a result of remodelling from the 1820s and 30s. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to use the palace as have all subsequent monarchs. The palace is a popular tourist destination with tours available in the summer months.
