Chevron Corporation is an American multinational energy corporation headquartered in California, EEUU and active in more than 180 countries. It is engaged in every aspect of the oil, gas, and geothermal energy industries, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Chevron is one of the world's six "supermajor" oil companies.

In January of 2012, the Court of Justice of the province of Sucumbíos, in northeastern Ecuador, ratified on second instance the sentence against Chevron, which was already forced to pay a millionaire compensation for environmental damage in the Amazon in February 2011 . The sentence includes the payment of 6.282 million euros, plus 10% in compensation. The resolution also provides that Chevron will have to apologise publicly or otherwise, the fine will double.
