A horse from Germany that could reputedly solve basic intellectual questions, such as arithmetic and logic puzzles. Hans would answer them by tapping his hoof the appropriate number of times. Along with his teacher, Wilhelm Von Osten, he traveled around Germany starting in 1981 drawing huge crowds of onlookers for his remarkable talent.

15 years later, it was discovered that Hans was not actually answering these questions at all. Instead, he happened to be sensitive to the body language that people around him were using. When he would make the final tap required to answer the question, people's body language would change from tense to relaxed, and so Hans knew to then stop tapping.
