Dawoud Rajiha

Dawoud Rajiha, fullname Dawoud Abdallah Rajiha, forename sometimes transliterated Dawood or Daoud, was the Syrian Minister of Defense from 2011 to 2012. Rajiha was born in Damascus in 1947.

He served as Chief of Staff of the Syrian Army.

In May 2012 the Free Syrian Army alleged that it had killed Rajiha and the seven other members of the government's military crisis unit. But soon members of this unit, including Rajiha, were shown on Syrian television to be alive.

Almost 2 months after the this incident, Rajiha was killed on the 18 July 2012. Dawoud Rajiha and deputy defense minister Shawkat were killed in a bomb attack on the Military Intelligence Directorate headquarters in Damascus.
