Enrique Iglesias

(1975- ) Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler is a Spanish singer. He is the most Spanish language albums seller of the 90s. His mother is Isabel Presley, a socialite, and his father is Julio Iglesias, a well known Spanish singer. In 1985, Iglesias' grandfather was kidnapped by the Basque terrorist group ETA, so he went to life to Miami with his father and one of his brothers (Julio Iglesias JR.) for his own safety.

Enrique didn't want his famous surname to help advance his musical career, so he recorded a demo cassette and with the help of his father's publicist, he promoted the songs as an unknown singer from Guatemala called 'Enrique Martinez'. Iglesias was signed by a Mexican record label called Fonovisa and in 2005 he recorded his first album, Enrique Iglesias. After that he made Vivir (1997) and Cosas del Amor (1998). In 1999 he signed with Interscope and he leased Enrique (1999), Escape (2001), Quizás (2002, in Spanish), 7 (2003), Insomniac (2007) and Euphoria (2010).

He also writes songs for other artists and has appeared as guest star in a couple of TV series and in the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Iglesias played the role of an evil Roman emperor in a TV commercial with Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Pink for Pepsi, which sponsored his last world tour. He was also in commercials for Doritos and for Viceroy Watches.

He has been dating the Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova since 2001.
