Gandhi is a 1982 biopic charting the life of Mohandas Gandhi that won the 1982 Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as seven other academy awards and a further two for Richard Attenborough and Ben Kingsley, who directed and starred respectively.

The film holds a Guiness world record for the most number of extras used in a single scene, with over 300,000 being present in the funeral scene.

It cost 22 million USD to make and made a return of 53 million at the box office.
