Georgia, nicknamed "The Peach State" but also known as The "Empire State of the South" is a a state located in the southeastern United States. Georgia was established in 1732, the last of the original Thirteen Colonies. It was the last state to be restored to the Union, on July 15, 1870. Atlanta is the capital and the most populous city. Other major cities are Augusta-Richmond County, Columbus, Savannah, Athens-Clarke County, Macon, Roswell, Albany, Marietta, and Warner Robins. Georgia shares border on the south with Florida; on the east with the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina; on the west with Alabama; and on the north with Tennessee and North Carolina.
