Greg Mortenson

Greg Mortenson is an American author who has penned two books: Three Cups of Tea and the sequel, Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afganistan and Pakistan.

Both books cover Mortenson's humanitarian work in Afghanistan and Pakistan, building schools and providing education for children, especially girls, where education is not usually an option. The books also describe the challenges and adventures Mortenson experiences during his time there.

As of 2010, the non-profit Central Asia Institute, which Mortenson is co-founder and director of has built or supported 171 school and providing education for over 64,000 children (54,000 girls) in areas within Pakistan and Afghanistan.

On April 17, 2011, the CBS News' program, 60 Minutes, alleged that there were inaccuracies in Mortenson's books.
