HLH protein

One of a group of proteins defined by their characteristic topography (the helix-loop-helix). These proteins form DNA-binding heterodimers composed of two proteins, one from a ubiquitous and one from a tissue-specific class of HLH proteins. The heterodimers are involved in regulation of gene expression.
