International Day for the Abolition of Slavery
The 2nd of December is the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. According to the International Labour organisation (ILO), millions of young people are in conditions close to slavery as victims of forced work or bonded, the 73% of them (about 180 million) do the worst forms of children work, including prostitution, slave labour and hazardous work. Moreover, the figures also show that slavery has not disappeared, with about 5.7 million of people who are in a position of servitude.
