Joseph Kevin Keegan

Keegan was born in Armthorpe, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire on the 14th February 1951. He was stockily-built, fast, brave, agile, and athletic. Twisting and turning, he tortured the finest defences in the land, creating space for his teammates. Dangerous in the air despite a comparative lack of height, he had a wonderful, near-telepathic understanding with John Toshack during his early seasons at Anfield. His speed of thought and action, his intelligent runs and passing, created numerous goals for his colleagues. On the managerial side, If passion alone won football matches then Kevin Keegan would be the most decorated manager in the game. As it is, his superlative motivational skills and admirable commitment to attacking football have so far won him more friends than trophies and history may yet judge Keegan as a brilliant player and hugely popular manager who did not quite make the grade. Keegan's career included spells at Newcastle United, Southampton, SV Hamburg, Liverpool and Scunthorpe United. He was a manager of Manchester City, Newcastle, Fulham and the England National football team. He was capped 63 times for the England national team.
